Srinagar, 10 Sep : Government of India on Saturday appointed Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Hirdesh Kumar as Deputy Election Commissioner of Election Commission of India.
According to an order, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Election Commission of India’s proposal for the appointment of Hirdesh Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 1999). gave as Deputy Election Commissioner, with pay at Level 14 in the pay matrix, Election Commission of India, for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier Shri Umesh Sinha, AS (UP: 1986).
Hirdesh’s appointment as Deputy Election Commissioner comes at a time when he has stated that 20-25 lakh voters will be included during the special summary ordered by the ECI.
