Sept. 15, Srinagar: Five individuals, including two powerful clerics from south Kashmir, were held on Thursday in accordance with preventive laws, according to officials here.
They said that Moulana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Abdul Rashid Dawoodi were among those detained.
According to the authorities, booking the clerics under the Public Safety Act and sending them to a jail in Jammu are options under consideration.
The PSA is an administrative statute that, in some circumstances, permits detention for up to two years without charge or trial.
More information is awaited.
